A native of a cozy village on the mainland of the Emerald Isles, Elias was a former captain of an exploration and trading vessel. A fell wind and a stormy night left his crew lost to the depths, and his life saved from the cold sea by the isle's inhabitants. It took little time at all for him to call this strange, new place his home, charmed by its bizarre wildlife and the odd energy that was palpable in this place.

His efforts to record and understand went from dedicated to borderline-obsessive in a short time, however. Occult secrets of stars sprawling ages away and incomprehensible creatures that abide by no natural law left his studies more and more complicated, and anymore, he finds himself driven into the great unknown by a compulsion he can't place. He wants to end the trouble that has befallen Pumpkin Hollow, of course - but above else all else, even his own safety, he longs to understand it and record it.
Look not into the abyss, lest it look back, and you may never tear your gaze away again.

Though his wavy hair and lightly-graying beard is kept well-trimmed by his own devices, it isn't unheard of him to find himself disheveled and looking a bit wild. His square-framed glasses are crucial, though often broken in his research. Scars tear up the side of his right cheek, starting just within his mustache, leaving small dents in the top of it where hair cannot grow. He enjoys a well-dressed, polished look, but doesn't care much for keeping it that way beyond when he leaves the door for the day.
